Tuition
I teach and mentor small groups and individuals from my studio in the village of Turville in the Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire. I hold a Pg Cert and M.A in Photography and have won several awards with images and essays published over the years. My studio is one of 6 situated just below the windmill that was featured in the film ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Ban’ and opposite the church used in the ’Vicar of Dibley’, where I ring the bells and run the tower!
My background is in darkroom photography and I consider myself bilingual in analogue and digital photography with much of my work being a hybrid mix of photography and other media. For me the process is part of the creativity along with the finished print. The final print is key to everything. An image can never be viewed the same digitally and I feel it must be seen and felt if at all possible to fully appreciate the meaning behind it. I have a professional printer and scanner and can tutor Photoshop or Lightroom for printing or workflow. I can also help you to understand how to edit a portfolio to give a narrative flow, and curate your own work for a book or exhibition.
I suggest two hours for the first session to get to know you and your working practice with future sessions from an hour onwards as and when needed. I charge £35 an hour plus any printing materials if used. Refreshments are included of course - all diets catered for.
I hold public liability insurance, safeguarding and DBS certificates.
Talks
I am available to give talks to Camera Clubs, Photography groups and Environmental Artists catered to their requirements. I talk about my journey ‘Art follows Nature’ and hoe my work expresses a love for the natural world and how it has helped me understand our place within it. I also give talks about my photographic processes and ‘alternative’ photography styles. Please contact me for details and fees.
